Given the present context in the Ukrainian academia as well as, broadly speaking, in political, business, and social life which are often permeated with distrust, dishonesty, lack of basic integrity and corrupt practices, UCU will reinforce and expand nation-wide its messages of a different standards, ways and models of ethically rooted acting and decision making in public sphere. UCU plays important role in creating a context for both academic and public dialog and discussion on the most pressing challenges of Ukraine, which predominantly are of moral nature. As the University started to develop and launch degree and non-degree programs open to a wider range of professionals (businessmen, journalists, public servants, leaders of non-profit organizations, mass-media and IT managers, politicians, etc.) it became evident that there is a need to enhance ethical components of the mentioned programs. To facilitate the emerging cluster of UCU ethically oriented programs (bioethics, family and sexual ethics, business ethics, social ethics, ethics of the public sphere, etc.) and to impact the society at large was established the International Institute for Ethics and Contemporary Issues.
